KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Industry-Government for High Technology (MIGHT) has formed a strategic partnership with the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council to strengthen and promote the exchange of ideas, information, skills, and expertise, as well as support cooperative activities in science, technology, and innovation (STI).

MIGHT said, as a forward-thinking think tank for Malaysia’s socio-economic growth, it has long been committed to fostering and advancing partnerships in high technology.

“This partnership with QRDI is an essential step towards forging strategic alliances and establishing consensus between the public and private sectors to drive technological advancements that benefit society,” it said in a statement on Monday.

The partnership with QRDI will facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions on foresight and future studies for policy, cross-promotion of innovation opportunities, and joint meetings, conferences, and workshops.

“These activities will contribute to the growth of STI foresight, STI policy research, STI policy advocacy, and STI intelligence, among others. The collaboration signifies the unity and commitment of both nations to the betterment of society,” said MIGHT.

By leveraging the strengths and expertise of both organisations, MIGHT and QRDI aim to take technological excellence to the next level, ensuring enduring prosperity and an increase in living standards for both Malaysia and Qatar.

“Together, we will drive advancements in science, technology, and innovation, fostering sustainable growth and economic development,” it added.

Commenting on the partnership, joint chairman of MIGHT Tan Sri Ahmad Tajuddin Ali said the synergy between Malaysia and Qatar will unlock immense growth opportunities and deliver tangible benefits for the people of the two nations.

“We hope that this collaboration reinforces the spirit of unity within the ummah, demonstrating that when we come together and pool our resources, we can achieve remarkable progress and overcome shared challenges,” he said.

Meanwhile, president and chief executive officer Rushdi Abdul Rahim said the collaboration marks an important milestone for Malaysia as the country continues to strengthen its global presence.

“By partnering with organisations like QRDI, we can collectively overcome global challenges and tackle complex issues by applying technological solutions and policy improvements,” he said.

The partnership signing ceremony, which took place in Doha on Dec 11, 2023, was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar) Zamshari Shaharan and Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry’s West Asia division under-secretary Datuk Zahairi Baharim.
