29 March 2022, Cyberjaya – Two recipients of the TÜBİTAK and Malaysian Industry Government Group for Technology (MIGHT) Academia-Industry Cooperation Fund received their Letters of Award (LOA) from the Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia H.E. Dr. Merve Safa Kavakci during her recent visit to the organisation.
The bilateral academia-industry cooperation on science, technology and industry between The Scientific and Technological Research council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and MIGHT aims at supporting joint research projects in the areas of application-oriented research and development, with specific focus on combating the devastation caused by the COVID-19.
In the thematic area of Food Security, Kairos Agriculture and Xiamen University Malaysia together with the Turkey partners UNAM-Bilkent University and NANOME jointly developed a project on Smart Nanocrystal
enabled light-emitting diodes lighting for sustainable controlled environment. Kairos is the nation’s first Smart Vanilla Farm which sits on 6 acres of land in Penang.
In the area of Emerging Technology, University Malaya and Infinecs Systems together with their Turkey partners, Izmir Katip Celebi University and INVGarden Celebi University collaborated on a project on battery-less assist technology for a wearable device in health care monitoring system during or post COVID-19 pandemic. The technology may be applied to pandemic healthcare tracking, smart city monitoring, smart agriculture management, body sensor nodes (BSNs) with IOT and wireless sensor network (WSNs) application.
The delegation was also briefed on the GreenDC Retrofit Kit for Green Data Centre, an award winning Malaysian-made technology capable of significantly reducing energy costs and carbon footprint of the Government’s facilities.
MIGHT was represented by its Joint Chairman (Industry) Tan Sri Ir. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali and Datuk Dr. Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Also in attendance were Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Deputy Secretary General of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Matthew Tee of Binapuri Holdings and Mr Tan Kim Yoke of Sunway.
